Dad Jokes
I used to watch a Korean show called, 아는형님 or also called Knowing Bros. It was my all time favorite show to watch as a kid with my family all gathered around the couch. Looking back now, it was honestly not a kids appropriate show but I really enjoyed it because I didn't get the adult jokes. And occasionally, they would say dad jokes, and all the people in the show would boo and act like it wasn't funny which is what most people do in real life. HOWEVER, I found that offensive because I found it funny :(
My dad also does a lot of dad jokes on me. I honestly really do find it funny and clever how he comes up with them but outside, I'm always like "haha" in the driest voice possible and I make sure he knows that I'm being sarcastic. I think in the past I used to just laugh out loud but growing up, I think I realized how most people treat dad jokes and I started doing that too.
I think my favorite is,
If seaweed fall in the ocean, what is it?
Kimchi. (because seaweed and kimchi in Korean sound similar)
I think I realized, I'm not really appreciating my dad much with his jokes because they do really lift me up in my hard days and when he calls me "seisei" I smile because I already know it's him. I think I could give him a couple genuine smiles in the future (which will probably be today :)
OMG I LOVE 아는형님!!!! Me and my parents watched it alot when i was younger and its lowkey a really nostalgic show for me. You made me realize how we undervalue the littlest things in our lives. Its funny cause for me and my dad it the opposite- im the one that tells the jokes and my dad thinks i'm weird. Anyways, i loved you blog.
ReplyDeleteAwww this blog is so cute sei!! I really liked your connection between your show and your interactions with your dad and his jokes, and I really liked your blog!
ReplyDeleteSeiii I really liked you connected your blog to your dad and his dad jokes. I thought it was very heartfelt :) When you said, "outside, I'm always like "haha" in the driest voice possible and I make sure he knows that I'm being sarcastic" I totally related to it because I do the same thing!
